Dota 2 Guide – A Beyond Godlike guide to owning pubs with Lich [Update 6.79]

Lich is undoubtedly one of the most powerful supports in the game, and is even being picked up more often in pro Dota 2 lately. With Lich you can not only go full support, but rake in kills just as much as any carry.

The following build allows you to buy all the essential items a good support needs, and still have enough gold to buy items to boost your damage. Lich is most often played as a top lane or bottom lane hero, but it’s not unheard of to see him play the middle lane.

Items

Buy your items in the following order:

Starting Items

  • Animal Courier (If you’re solo support and no one else has)
  • Observer Ward
  • Healing Salve
  • Tango (1 stack of 4)
  • Clarity (Optional, I don’t always have use for this unless it’s a tough game)
  • Boots of Speed
  • Flying Courier

Core Items

  • Mekanism (Headdress first if you need HP regeneration, Buckler first of you need bonus armor
  • If you feel like you need HP regen often, upgrade your Boots of Speed to Tranquil Boots, if not either upgrade to Phase Boots for speed or Power Treads for +8 Intelligence.
  • If you’re game is going well, buy the Refresher Orb before Aghanim’s Scepter. Buy both these items in the order they are needed depending on your game.

I’ve got all this gold lying around, now what?

If you’re doing as well as I know you are, there are some great luxury items to build, good choices are:

  • Scythe of Vyse
  • Boots of Travel
  • Bloodstone
  • Linken’s Sphere
  • Shiva’s Guard

How to spend your points

  • Level 1 – Sacrifice
  • Level 2 – Frost Blast
  • Level 3 - Frost Blast
  • Level 4 - Sacrifice
  • Level 5 - Frost Blast
  • Level 6 – Chain Frost
  • Level 7 - Frost Blast
  • Level 8 - Sacrifice
  • Level 9 - Sacrifice
  • Level 10 – Ice Armor
  • Level 11 - Chain Frost
  • Level 12 - Ice Armor
  • Level 13 - Ice Armor

  • Level 16 - Chain Frost
All remaining points can only be spent in attributes, spend it in Intelligence as it is your main attribute.
