American McGee’s Alice: Otherlands funded

American McGee’s 3D animation Alice: Otherlands has reached funding on kickstarter.

With over $222k donated by fans the funding will allow Spicy Horse to create a series of animated short films, said American McGee in his latest update.

“Coming in at over 222kUSD, the funding will allow us to create a series of animated short films, pursue larger animated series possibilities, begin development work on a feature film and access larger funding options for a possible feature film production in the future.”, he wrote.

It all starts somewhere and for Spicy Horse and a hopeful future of bringing us more of the enchanting Alice franchise, it started right here with us. The fans, those who contributed to their kickstarter.

Alice: Otherlands is the proposed third instalment of the American McGee’s Alice trilogy. In this instalment Alice enters the minds of some of “London's most beautiful and terrifying minds.”.

“1875 in London is a time filled with a rich array of characters, each a potential vehicle for Alice's new adventures - Jules Verne, Jack the Ripper, Darwin, Queen Victoria and a plethora of French artists. In this final piece of the story, I imagine we'll see Alice fighting against a larger conspiracy - one that impacts all the inhabitants of London - battling an organization or bad guy intent on capturing all of society in a nightmarish "prison of the mind." This is, in effect, a commentary on the soul crushing birth of industrial society... but we can and will give it a fantastic twist. “
