World of Warcraft patch 5.4 revives ghost realms

Most World of Warcraft regulars will know that certain realms, previously the most active have completely died out. Dentarg which used to be a popular and highly populated realm has become a ghost town, and with the declining subscriptions to the game, even more realms are left empty. Blizzard has now taken to remedy that, so that players are not forced to purchase a realm transfer.

Blizzard will implement “Connected Realms” with patch 5.4, using their cross-platform technology two or more realms will be connected, functioning as one. This will allow players to play together as if they were on the same realm.
“Our goal with Connected Realms is to give players on lower-population realms more opportunities to group up, compete, and connect with other players to take on Azeroth’s bigger challenges. That sort of interaction is a big part of what makes World of Warcraft fun, and this feature will help us deliver that experience to even more players.”, reads the blog.
